DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
We booked our vehicle transport from Florida to CA, 2 months in advance. One week before the move date I called the Sales Manager to confirm, she agreed that everything was set and no problems about our pick up. ON THE DAY OF pick up they called to say that the driver required $300 more before he would agree to pick up our car in 2-3 additional days!! We fly out the next day! They didn’t even guarantee the actual move date!!! After an hour of stressing over what we plan to do, we cancelled our contract VIA email because they wouldn’t even pick up the phone or return our calls!! After a week of emails & calls, they said they would refund our deposit IN FULL! well that hasn’t happened yet! It’s been 2 1/2 almost 3 weeks!! NO ONE is still answering or replying. The home movers who recommended them to us, OCEAN MOVING AND STORAGE, are telling us that they are probably on vacation! REALLY?? well they must be enjoying it on our $400 deposit!
Ask your family/friends for a recommendation on car transport. Make sure they had a great experience!! DO NOT USE RIDE A WAY VEHICLE TRANSPORT!!
Its hard to say. The company in it of itself was fine. They set everything up, was available, etc. However the person/company they used was very uncommunicative. They got the car to me when they said they would(actually the morning after they said they would come) but not without unnecessary stress. First they said they would come in the morning approximately 9:30. I waited and there was a no-show. I called the guy and he said he would be late due to a problem with the truck. I said ‘Oh…how long would it take?’ and the guy said about 21/2 hours (which would be about noon). I said fine, and I waited (did other things) for that time – I told him I had to catch a plant at 5pm and he said he would get to me in time. Noon time comes, with no call and I call him. He answers the phone like nothing is wrong and he tells me he still has problems and won’t see me until 3 or 3:30. I then start getting anxious – I called the head company and asked about it, and there was nothing he could do, but to tell me to leave the keys of the car with somebody ( I didn’t know anybody in that area so that wasn’t an option). Ultimately the guy showed up at 4:30 calm and cool as if he was supposed to be there at the time, without any apology whatsoever.
We did make an arrangement for him to drop off the car later on the next day in the evening, and the same exact thing happened….he was supposed to arrive at 6, something happened to his truck (this time it was the lights) and wont be able to make it until 9pm. I called at 9 and he was still stuck and wouldnt arrive until about 11:30pm. After this I asked him to let his other customers know that if he is running late to call, and he grunted like he didn’t understand me.
Ultimately I got the car a bit later in perfect condition, I complained to GAATCO, they said they would take care of it.
So, there you have it. It wasn’t the worst situation but it couldv’e been better.
Did they pick up and deliver my car, yes they did but dealing with them was a nightmare.
First, while they tried to be helpful and have every operator offer to help you out it’s better when you deal with just one operator throughout the entire process rather than having to explain and re-explain what you need to different people, this was not helpful.
Second, I’m the owner of the vehicle but my company paid for the transportation. So why would they call my company and inform them of the pick up date? I never got a call about the pick up date, I had to follow up with the transport company and they said they called me, I told them that I didn’t understand why they called the company when I’m the owner of the vehicle???
Next, they wouldn’t give me a time frame as to when the car would be picked up, a 4 hour block would be nice but they didn’t. They just said, on this date have your car ready, this is their line of business they should know at what approximate time the car will be picked up.
My car was picked up a week before its scheduled delivery but then it arrived before I had even left! I had told the operators many times on the exact date that I would arrive. The driver contacted me letting me know that it would really help him out if I was there to accept the car, I don’t blame the driver, I blame the transport company.
In addition, they that due to legal issues that I couldn’t add more than 100lbs in the trunk, surprisingly these legal issues would vanish if I paid an additional $200.
The price was ok but dealing with them was a nightmare. Like I said my car arrived ok, I give credit to the driver not to the transport company. The 2 stars was for the driver.
In May 2013 Kwik Trans moved one of my vehicles from the San Francisco Bay Area to Cape Cod. Two years earlier the same vehicle had made the cross-country trip on a car carrier without incident. This time things didn’t go so well.
The carrier driver was extremely courteous and attentive, albeit rattled by having driven the rig theough San Francisco for the first time. I had detailed the vehicle just prior to shipment and was intimately familiar with every ding and scrape on the exterior. The car was received on the Cape by friends in advance of my arrival about 1.5 weeks later. The car was garaged and not driven until my arrival. Initially it looked okay when I saw it. My driveway has a slight rise and when I drove in I parked on top of the rise. Having the car elevated revealed two virtually identical sets of bolt impressions were embossed in the plastic-clad bumper. This suggests that the carrier operator had not once but twice either driven my car into the front of another on the transport, or that the other vehicle had twice been pushed into my car. Had my friends gotten down on hands and knees (not an easy task at our ages) they would have seen the damage but they didin’t and signed off on the vehicle condition. Bottom line: I’ll have to eat the cost of bumper repair or replacement.
There were also language barrier issues- which they tried hard to overcome, and a great deal of confusion on the route to get the car from California to Massachusetts. It’s unfortunate that things went south and that I am the one to have to bear the cost of someone else’s mistakes.
Very Easy compant to use, I found them searching this actual review site and spoke to Roland who seems to be the owner of the company. I found this company to be a perfect fit. I shipped my car from Florida Back up to New York in a breeze.
I will most certainly use you guys again
